The Fall Festival of
Flight event went off as scheduled, even with the rain. Many
of the folks brought great items for sale. All of the tables
were filled by 10:00 am. Garvin, Bob , Jerry and I, put the
tent up Friday, just in case. Good thing too.
The Balloon Chase was
a grand crowd pleaser. It took several tries to get the
balloon ballast set right so that it didn't fly off too soon.
The wind occasionally brought the thing back over the pit area,
and the session was halted until another balloon was prepared.
No team hit the balloon.
The Touch and Go, Spot
Landing, and Balloon Chase, where all won by Rob Hoover.
The mid-air collision shown in the photos below (row 5, column 1)
came when the ribbon tow plane, Mike McGuyer's Venture 60, was
struck by Bob Hoover's "My Way". That makes two
years in a row that the tow plane has been hit. Next year,
Bob Hoover must tow the ribbon.
Six gallon's of chili,
six pounds of fly bread, three dozen donuts, trays of brownies,
cookies, and desserts, were all eaten as the show went on.
The weather could have been better, but could have been worse,
too...
