Here's Matt Strasbourg (see the photo below)
with
his Edge 540 that he won in the raffle for Basic pilots at the Molalla
R/C Association's Pacific
Freestyle event in July of this year. "He really
loves it and is looking forward to competing down in Molalla again in
2005", according to his dad, Chris Strasbourg.
He lives with his family
in Bothell, WA and flies with his dad at Cascade Airpark in
Snohomish. His plane is a 29% Edge 540 powered by a Brison 3.2
engine. The radio is JR, and the servos are Hitech
digitals. The covering is Ultrakote.
"Matt is 9 years
old and is in the 4th grade. He started flying r/c when he was
7 and has been a very fast learner. He has long since eclipsed
me and my ability in aerobatics. He now gets tips and help
from some of the Unlimited boys here in Washington."
"Matt started
flying IMAC last year and competed in two contests. The first
was in Snohomish, WA, where he came in seventh in Basic.
The second was in Molalla, where he took third place. He
was thrilled to get a trophy in Molalla, and winning the Edge 540
was a "miracle". By the way, the airplane was
built and donated by Lloyd Marhol, and his wife, Barb, did the
fabulous covering job. Rob Albus of Icon Signs did the
graphics."
"Matt also really
loves trout fishing and whitewater rafting with his mom and
dad. He's also active in Cub Scouting where he has acted as
instructor pilot for some of his fellow scouts during field trips to
the r/c field."
