The occupant of the house on Adams
Cemetery Road has expressed his unhappiness with our flying activities
at the field, particularly about noise and overflights on his
property.
To the best of my knowledge, we are
in compliance with the zoning ordnances for Clackamas County and the
State of Oregon by flying model airplanes on exclusive farm use
zoned land. The noise generated by our use of the land is within
the limits established by the DEQ. There are no restrictions on
the hours of operations established for permitted activities allowed
in agricultural zoning lands. Nonetheless, we want to be
especially careful to not do anything that might aggravate this
situation.
We have, of course, informed all
members that their normal flying boundaries are not challenged at the
east and west ends of the runway, but that they are not
permitted to fly over this neighbor's property, which is located on
our field's boundary directly NNW from the impound shed.

to see a photo of the actual house, which is partially obscured by
trees and greenery and is difficult to see from the flying field.
The photo was taken with a telephoto lens, so the house appears to be
much closer in the picture than it really is when seen from the flying
field.

Note that our field's "No Fly
Zone" has not changed, nor do any of the activities at the field
need to change. Please feel free to fly at the field as usual.
However, please be aware that this person's concerns are primarily
about excessive noise and, in a few isolated cases, planes flying over
his property line. Please make certain that all of our
activities at the field are in compliance with state and local
regulations so that we don't unintentionally make this situation any
worse.
If you are approached by this
individual, an older gentleman about 5'8"-5'10", please
advise him to contact Grant Sharp. Do not attempt
to engage him in a debate over these issues. He may not
understand that he has moved next to an existing, legal, well-run,
attractive, well-maintained, farming operation. In addition, he
may not be aware that the property to the south of his house is also
zoned for aircraft operations, aggregate extraction, concrete plant
operation, construction debris land fill, and a whole lot more.
